The ‘Words from the Dust’ project aimed to capture feelings about life on the land through storytelling; to achieve social networking, value personal stories and the impact of drought on older members of the community. It allowed older people to express their thoughts, meet and share stories with others, as well as record their stories to share their life experiences with other Australians.
It was delivered through six workshops across the Central West, Condobolin, Forbes, Grenfell, Cowra, Blayney and Orange. Words From the Dust was awarded Highly Commended in the Program Category of the 2011 NSW Marketing Awards for Public Libraries – a fantastic result! Two writing groups continue to meet regularly and contribute to the website.
